Minority Outreach Committee
The Minority Outreach Committee has been in existence for more than four years. During this time, three Minority Alumni Conferences have been held. They served to first identify important minority graduate issues, and secondly to organize work groups to develop action plans to address those key issues.
A lot remains to be done: the committee needs to be invigorated with active participants and minority graduate volunteers for both advisory support and specialized planning for major events, such as the annual Minority Outreach Conference. There is also a need to revise the Vision Statement and to address the committee's role in support of female graduates.
The MOC is diligently working toward timely execution of all Action Plans; however, strong support from the minority graduates is imperative. If you are interested in volunteering, please view our Get Involved section. By accessing each graduates unique skills, talents, contacts, and resources (in conjunction with communication and fiscal support) the combined mission of the AOG/Minority Outreach Committee will be realized:
- Support and enhance Minority Cadet Recruiting
- Support of minority cadets while at West Point
- Support of minority graduates after graduation
Recently, the Minority Outreach Committee, along with the support of volunteer minority graduates, has been diligently working to implement the action plans developed for the issues outlined above. Much has been accomplished to date; however, we still have a long way to go in order to make tangible contributions toward enhancing the welfare of minority cadets, minority graduates, and West Point.
